Liuyi Guan is an Art School located in the southeast of China. It is famous for its focus on teaching Chinese tradition to K-12 students. Liuyi means “Six Arts”. Those six arts include Rites, Music, Archery, Charioteering, Calligraphy, and Mathematics. Liuyi origin begins in the Zhou Dynasty (about 3000 years ago), and since then have evolved over time and yet still have had a major influence on Chinese culture. The new campus planning and design is to create a physical environment that exemplifies the traditional Chinese philosophy while integrating modern function and convenience for both students and teachers. The design is a network of multiple centers that help promote an informal learning experience through the students’ daily activities instead of only in the classroom.
