Learning BoatNorfolk, VA
The treehouse prototype was commissioned by a family whose house is one block away from the beach with a beautiful ocean view from a huge oak tree in front of it. The concept of “Learning Boat” is intended to create a treehouse in the beach context as a fun and meaningful learning place. On the one hand, as an informal learning space, it is able to accommodate various learning and social activities through integrating furniture and storage systems; on the other hand, as a learning device itself, it is designed with unique details that are able to foster children’s interactions with natural elements, such as wind, rain, birds, and stars.
"They spent time with our family and developed tree house concepts based on our family values and interests. The design encompassed both exterior and interior details. We could not have been happier with the work that Yang and Suping did for this tree house design. Their design was very complete. All in all this was an extremely professional and thorough job."
