A composition of different siding material and minor modifications of roof structure creates the Mid-century Modern aesthetic while taking advantage of the asymmetrical gable roof of the front facade, and existing openings.
A series of outdoor living spaces are added on the side of the house connecting to the existing back deck. The space creates a buffer and active interface between what is man-made and Nature. It not only cultivates an enjoyable outdoor experience, but it also creates and enhances the indoor-outdoor relationship. Being able to obtain the variance approval allowed GARC to tackle the home’s challenges along the side of the house. One of those challenges included the location of the home’s main entrance. GARC used the landscape design features to effectively help guide guests and visitors locate the entrance.
